American Iris Society – Colorado Region 20
Newsletters and Resources

The publications page lists books about irises for the casual gardener and the specialist with their Tables of Contents.

The Region 20 newsletter features articles about irises and iris activities of particular interest to Colorado gardeners. We hope they will encourage you to join the American Iris Society (AIS) and to participate in our many activities. Membership gives you our local newsletter and the larger, national AIS Bulletin that is published quarterly. You can download a presentation of the 2009 American Iris society awards presented at the 2010 National Convention in Madison, Wisconsin here. The file is over 10 MB so it will take some time to download. Please save the file to your local disk if you want to view it more than once.

Our newsletters are now available in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) format. You can read these files with the free Acrobat Reader program which can be downloaded from the Adobe website. If you are having trouble opening a PDF file, see the notes at the end of this page.

The newsletters below are the most recent ones available in PDF format. Click on the link below the picture to download the newsletter.

Recent versions of Acrobat Reader are extremely greedy for system resources and are not required to view the Newsletter. For older systems, try Acrobat Reader version 7 which is much less demanding on your system. When you install the software, it may offer to start the Acrobat Reader program automatically every time you turn your computer on. While this makes loading PDF files faster, it takes quite a bit of memory even if you are not reading PDF files so you can safely decline that option.

The most efficient way to read PDF files, particularly on older computers, is to right click the link to the file and select the Save As option. This action downloads the file to your local computer to a location that you specify where it will be available for future reference without having to download the file again. Please use this option as it will ease the demand on our webserver account and permit more people to download the file at the same time.

If you are having problems downloading the Newsletters, please check your browser's download options. You may have a content filter or firewall setting that blocks downloading files from websites that have not been previously approved and/or certain kinds of files that may contain images.
